What is studentforce ??

Built upon the force.com platform distributed by salesforce.com, studentforce is a Cloud Application serving student users.

By leveraging tools students currently use and are easily accessed now through any web browser; including mobile devices, students can easily collaborate and manage interactions with: classes, faculty, assignments, finances, classmates, others with similar interests, academic and career opportunities; and, more significantly, the relationships between each.

studentforce + Chatter

Chatter is an enterprise social networking tool enabling faculty, staff, administration, alumni and students the ability to collaborate within secure groups. studentforce + Chatter deployed enterprise wide is a natural portal for students; one they can easily configure to communicate with individuals who share classes, curricula, assignments, and social interests.

Chatter will be available for studentforce some time in 2010. studentforce and all other apps built on the force.com platform will be available for the iPad in March 2010

TARGETED PORTALS HELP FRESHMEN MAKE THE TRANSITION TO COLLEGE LIFE

AS MUCH AS IT IS EAGERLY ANTICIPATED, freshman year is often a time of confusion, disorientation, and even alienation for many students.

The 90-page report, "University Tuition, Consumer Choice and College Affordability: Strategies for Addressing a Higher Education Affordability Challenge," includes a set of strategies that public universities can adopt to keep tuition affordable. The report, sponsored by the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) includes suggestions institutions can apply to keep tuition cost increases down and can be viewed by clicking here >>

Not surprisingly, among the strategies are suggestions that include modifying the delivery of courses by taking advantage of technology delivered on demand. Applying the value Cloud Computing delivers to Higher Ed can have a significant impact on the affordability of higher education going forward.
